Eurocopter at Indodefence 2006

Strong commitment to Indonesia’s central defence exhibition in Asia- Pacific’s biggest country

Eurocopter South East Asia – Regional headquarters for the world’s Number One helicopter manufacturer

Jakarta, Indonesia, INDODEFENCE 2006, 22  November  2006

Eurocopter, world leader in civil and parapublic helicopters, is proud to be one of the major exhibitors at the second Indodefence exhibition. Eurocopter offers a broad range of military helicopters, from cost-efficient, safe and highly-modern light training aircraft such as EC120, to renowned and fast types just as AS565, the perfect match for any naval mission, to EC725, the latest and most powerful medium-heavy helicopter for SAR missions up to state-of-the-art combat helicopter type Tiger and multi-role transport helicopter model NH90, both being the definite benchmarks in their categories on the world market. For Eurocopter, the Asia-Pacific region is the most important civil and parapublic growth market with more than 180 new Eurocopter helicopters sold over the last 5 years, representing a 54% market share. Today, about 1,350 Eurocopter helicopters are in service in the Asia-Pacific region.

Eurocopter South-East Asia – strong footprint in the Asian-Pacific region

Set up in 1977 as Regional Headquarters of the Eurocopter Group, Eurocopter South East Asia (ESEA) has been present in the region for 29 years. Based in Singapore, ESEA is responsible for the distribution and after-sales support of the entire range of Eurocopter aircraft for the region.

ESEA has sold and delivered more than 250 new aircraft to civil and military customers in 25 countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The company has developed a successful commercial network through their Singapore based sales team supported by in-country sales managers and technical executives. ESEA serves customers ranging from the Armed Forces to commercial Oil and Gas operators, VVIP transport for corporate flights, helicopter flying schools and charter flights. ESEA’ s primary goal is to operate as a one-stop service centre for the Asia Pacific Region, providing this fast growing region with the best array of competences to support the sales and maintenance of Eurocopter’s fleet.

Eurocopter in Indonesia – Three decades of success

With a track record of more than 150 aircraft either built under license or delivered in Indonesia until today, the legendary BO105 and Puma family helicopters contributed to Eurocopter’s strong brand recognition in the country, especially in the segments Offshore, Air Taxi and Law Enforcement.

In April 2006, Eurocopter and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) signed a “Teaming Framework Agreement” for the promotion of all governmental sales and customer support activities for the complete Eurocopter product range.

Leading the Indonesian market

In Fiscal Year 2005, considering in-service helicopter fleets, Eurocopter accounted for 41 percent of the military and 46 percent of the civil and parapublic market in Indonesia. Latest success is the recent purchase of a new Dauphin AS365 N3 by the Indonesian National Police. To be delivered in December 2006, this is the first AS365 N3 in Indonesia. It will be used for police missions such as patrolling as well as rescue and surveillance. ESEA has successfully entered the private sector, having delivered the first EC135 for VIP transport and EC130 for agricultural missions in Indonesia. With 80 percent of the country’s helicopter fleet in service being older than 20 years, Eurocopter anticipates a market demand of about 40 new helicopters in the next five to ten years. In terms of customer support activity, ESEA is also actively engaged in services such as maintenance, inspection, retrofit and sale of spare parts to customers in the region.

Full mission support as turnkey solution for the Asian-Pacific region

This year, ESEA is strongly promoting support contracts of a new and distinctive nature: that of a turnkey solution. With this new support concept, ESEA shows a global commitment on the availability of the aircraft and/or mission equipment. For the customer this is more efficient than a service package merely focused on repair or overhaul. ESEA employs 110 people in Singapore with most of them highly qualified in aeronautics skills.

Experienced executives from Eurocopter HQ are permanently relocated to Singapore to manage the coordination of Regional commercial and technical support activities. Proximity being an important aspect to obtaining customer satisfaction, Eurocopter Group has set up a logistics platform in Hong Kong in May 2005. Spare parts are now brought closer to the customers. The platform covers the whole of Asia including Australia. It occupies 1500 m2 of warehousing and contains 15 000 references. This translates into a reduction of lead-time needed to receive spares as well as an increase in efficiency.

Certified ISO 9001-2000, ESEA is an approved maintenance organization recognized by the European Aviation Safety Agency as well as by airworthiness authorities from 6 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Nepal).

Strong IT focus for optimal customer handling

Being based in Singapore, a country with a high reactivity to E-services, ESEA has always had a strong IT focus. With a dedicated server operated by specially trained engineers in France, direct interconnection with Eurocopter HQ’s ERP system and spares ordering enables the company to deal technically and commercially in ‘Real Time’ with its local and regional customers. Web applications, e-commerce initiatives, e-technical service, e-procurement, MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) e-service and status tracking were also specifically developed and implemented to this end. ESEA plans to continue to expand its array of IT initiatives in its operations in the coming years to offer real-time value and satisfaction, through multi-channel communications and services to their customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
