Amazonas satellite shipped to Baikonur: 3rd Eurostar E3000 delivered by EADS Astrium in 4 months

Amsterdam, Toulouse, Friedrichshafen, Stevenage - The satellite has been shipped to the launch site of Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The launch is planned in the last week of July on a Proton M Breeze M launch vehicle. With 51 transponders, Amazonas satellite will provide a full range of telecommunications services to Brazil, North and South America, and a transatlantic link for Europe.

EADS Astrium awarded a second Anik satellite by Telesat.

Amsterdam, Paris, Munich - EADS Astrium has been selected by Telesat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators, to build the company’s new Anik F3 satellite. This is the second order for a Eurostar E3000 satellite received from the Canadian-based operator, which ordered the Anik F1R satellite from EADS Astrium in January 2003. Planned to enter into service in 2006, Anik F3 will provide satellite communications services in C, Ku and Ka-bands over a large area covering North America from its orbital location of 118.7º West.

Amazonas, Hispasat most powerful satellite, nearly completed by EADS Astrium

Madrid/ Friedrichshafen/ Stevenage/ Toulouse - Astrium has completed the Amazonas satellite manufacturing and assembly and has also successfully completed the Environmental Testing. Final end to end RF testing is on going and will be completed before end May. The satellite will be then shipped around mid June to Baikonour, Kazakhstan, to prepare for the launch which is planned in July on a Proton M Breeze M launch vehicle. With 51 transponders, it will provide a full range of telecommunications services to Brazil, North and South America, and a transatlantic link for Europe.
