EADS Defence and Communications Welcomes New Head of Air and Naval Defence

Mr Franz Peraus, former Head of Human Resources for EADS Defence and Communications, has been appointed the Head of the Air and Naval Defence line of business. He succeeds Mr. Bernhard Gerwert who has been promoted to President and CEO of EADS Defence Electronics. On his new function Mr Peraus commented, "I am looking forward to the challenging task of creating viable system of systems solutions for our customer. From sensor-to-effector, we are providing air and naval defence solutions that are flexible enough to integrate into existing systems, while staying on the cutting edge of the defence business"
Air and Naval Defence, part of the "Systems House" within EADS, offers air command and control systems that support air and land forces in the coordination and management of air operations to ensure national sovereignty and to react within NATO compatibility.
Based on experienced sensor-to-effector solutions, AND is the air defence expert within EADS, optimising the employment and capabilities of sensor and weapon systems as well as providing an effective protection for moving ground forces, high value targets and defence areas from aerial threat.
AND is also a leader in the field of naval combat system design and integration, real-time command and control software, including fast and secure information exchange, data fusion and threat evaluation. Coastal surveillance systems in AND are taking the decisive move ahead towards the future of national sovereignty by increasing the ability to react immediately against smugglers, pollution, illegal coastal activities and piracy. The effective and proven solutions from AND enable navies, coast guard, customs and fishery administrations worldwide to successfully provide border protection and maintain national security standards.

The Defence and Communications Systems (DCS) Business Unit is the “Systems House” of EADS and is an integrated part of the EADS Defence and Security Systems Division (DS).
