EADS help for Russian orphans has become a firm tradition at the Moscow air salon

Moscow, 01  August  2003

This is already the third time that the aerospace company EADS has taken advantage of the Moscow airshow MAKS in order to provide material support for Russian orphans. This tradition was begun in the year 1999. At MAKS 2003, the head of EADS's Moscow Office Joachim Michel will be handing over a symbolic cheque worth 10,000 euros for ten boys who are being brought up and looked after by officers of the NBC protection brigade in the city of Kineshma. As always, the event is being supported by the Russian Orthodox Church in Weimar.

In 1998, the NBC protection brigade of Kineshma first received a group of boys who originated from broken families or had lost both parents. Today, that first generation of protégés is already undergoing vocational training or is doing its military service. New children have now been welcomed in their place.

"Back in 1999, we were favourably impressed by the NBC protection brigade's initiative and decided to support it," says Joachim Michel, Head of the EADS Moscow Office. "We are delighted that this has now become a tradition."

During the air show to be held at Zhukovsky from 19 to 24 August, EADS will be providing information about its range of products and its strategic partnership with the Russian aerospace industry.
