EADS TEST & SERVICES Introduces The First Interoperable General Purpose Automatic Tester

EADS TEST & SERVICES, the EADS subsidiary specializing in automatic test equipment, is present at the 2003 Paris Air Show on the EADS stand in Hall 2A and exhibits a new, interoperable general purpose automatic tester, aimed at armed forces from all countries.

This tester, named RACE, is being developed in co-operation with the General Purpose Test System Department of EADS Defence Electronics in Germany; it is introduced for the first time at this Paris Air Show.

RACE will be the First Interoperable General Purpose Automatic Tester to be proposed to the armed forces. It has been designed to meet the new conditions and requirements of military maintenance:

  • multinational programs,
  • joint operations,
  • decreasing national budgets,
  • compatibility with existing test systems,
  • integration into various logistics organizations,
  • respect of nation-specific requirements.

EADS Defence Electronics is a leader for Radar and EW Test Systems for military applications and its test systems have been well established in Germany and Europe for national as well as multinational programs.

World leader for the test of civil avionics, EADS TEST & SERVICES is also the leader for the test of French weapon systems. The company intends to develop its presence on the international military test market, especially in Europe, with Interoperable General Purpose Automatic Testers. EADS TEST & SERVICES testers, the ATEC and the SESAR 3000, have already been chosen for major military programs such as the Rafale aircraft, the Tiger, Super Puma and CH47 helicopters and the ASTER missile. They are also used by equipment manufacturers for production testing.

In total, more than 790* test stations and 4,000* test programs are in operation throughout the world. The 160* customers of EADS TEST & SERVICES include:

  • 60* airlines,
  • 50* equipment manufacturers and maintenance centres,
  • 50* military organizations and armed forces.

EADS TEST & SERVICES is part of the “Services” Business Unit of the EADS Defence & Security Division. The company had a turnover of EUR 85 millions in 2002 and employs 440* persons in Toulouse and in Vélizy-Villacoublay (Paris).
