11 Million Euros of ATEC Series 6 Orders for EADS TEST & Services

Le Bourget, 01 June 2003

Despite the unfavorable international environment affecting the air transport industry, EADS TEST & SERVICES has received a total of 11 million Euros of orders over the last two months from four major airlines and maintenance organizations, acquiring a new Customer, Air New Zealand Engineering Services, and two new ATEC Series 6 Customers: Saudi Arabian Airlines and South African Technical*.

  • In April Saudi Arabian Airlines ordered its first ATEC Series 6 test system with 48 Test Program Sets for the maintenance of its Boeing aircraft. Saudi Arabian airlines already operates an ATEC 5000.
  • In May, South African Technical*, the specialist maintenance subsidiary of South African Airways, decided to buy its first ATEC Series 6 test system from EADS TEST & SERVICES. The order includes a large ATEC Series 6 test station, 28 Test Program Sets for the maintenance of Airbus A340-600 and 7 Test Program Sets for the maintenance of Boeing aircraft. Delivery is planned to start in the fourth quarter of 2003.
  • With this order, South African Technical* becomes only the second company to have acquired the whole range of ATEC testers starting with an ATEC 2000 in 1970, the ATEC 4000, the ATEC 5000 and today the ATEC Series 6.
  • In May, Alitalia placed an order for their 3rd ATEC Series 6.

In June, the Maintenance & Repair Organization Air New Zealand Engineering Services, a subsidiary of Air New Zealand, became a new ATEC Customer by acquiring its first ATEC Series 6 with some 20 Test Program Sets for avionics maintenance on the Airbus A320 aircraft which will be delivered to Air New Zealand starting in September 2003.

These four major contracts, awarded in a very difficult period for the world’s airlines, prove that Automatic Testers are a recognized means for saving costs and demonstrate the ability of EADS TEST & SERVICES to adapt its offer to best serve the interests of its customers.

These orders once again confirm the ATEC Series 6 as the world’s number one tester for civil avionics.

* South African Technical is the largest maintenance facility in Africa. Major customers for whom South African Technical has performed maintenance work include South African Airways, Air France, Air Seychelles, Air Zimbabwe, Alitalia, Lufthansa and TAAG Angola.
