EADS EFW receives order from Airbus for production of A380 cargo lining

Dresden, 29 July 2003

EADS EFW (Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH) has been selected by Airbus for the development, manufacture and support of Lower Deck Cargo Lining on the A380 aircraft (passenger and freighter version). The production at EFW will start within a few months.

In January 2003, Airbus has already selected EFW as supplier for the production of A380 passenger floor panels. The delivery of the first floor panels will take place in November of this year.

“We are proud that Airbus renewed its confidence in our products and selected EFW again as partner for the A380 program”, said Horst Emker, President & CEO of EADS EFW.

Since the start of production of the fibre-reinforced furnishing components ten years ago, EADS EFW has delivered to the Airbus final assembly lines in Hamburg and Toulouse about 700 000 panels on a just-in-time basis. This number corresponds to a size of approximately 700 000 m², installed in all Airbus aircraft for floor and cargo compartment panels as well as for cabin equipment parts, such as class dividers. In addition, EADS EFW has delivered more than 3000 security cockpit doors for new Airbus aircraft as well as for retrofit for the Airbus fleet in service.

EFW, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, is the center of competence for the production of fibre-reinforced interior components within EADS. EFW is also the responsible partner for Airbus freighter conversions within EADS.
