The European consortium ATR (Avions de Transport Régional) announces today the signature of a contract for four ATR 42-320s with the Indian regional airline Air Deccan. These aircraft will be delivered in July and August of this year.
Air Deccan is a 100% subsidiary of Deccan Aviation Pvt. Ltd. which was created in 1997 and is based in Bangalore. Deccan Aviation operates 9 helicopters and 2 PC12s on charter and VIP flights.
Air Deccan has been created recently in order to enter the domestic scheduled market, and will initially operate in the South of India and will link cities such as Mysore, Hubli, Hampi, Belgaum, Hyderabad, Tirupati and Chennai.
Air Deccan will increase its fleet by two additional ATR 42-320s by the end of the year.
With this order ATR will be present in India with 16 ATRs (8 ATR 72-500s with Jet Airways, 4 ATR 42-320s with Alliance Air and 4 ATR 42-320s with Air Deccan).
ATR is an equal partnership between EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) and FINMECCANICA/ALENIA AERONAUTICA and is the world leader in the 40 to 70 seat turboprop market.
