Segment Information
EADS organises its businesses into the following four operating
divisions:

Airbus: Development, manufacturing, marketing and sale of commercial jet aircraft of more than 100 seats and the development and manufacturing of aircraft for military use;
Airbus Military: Development, manufacturing, marketing and sale of military transport and special mission aircraft; -
Eurocopter: Development, manufacturing, marketing sale of civil and military helicopters;

Defence & Security: Development, manufacturing, marketing and sale of missile systems; military combat aircraft and training aircraft; defence electronics; defence-related (and some civil) telecommunications solutions; and logistics, training, testing, engineering and other related services; and

Astrium: Development, manufacturing, marketing and sale satellites, orbital infrastructures and launchers; and provision of launch services.
Other businesses: Development, manufacturing, marketing sale regional turboprop aircraft; maintenance services; and aircraft aerostructures. The Business Units EADS North America, ATR and EADS Sogerma are no longer part of any division. In the segment reporting, EADS allocates the three respective Business Units among 'Other Businesses'.
In general, these manufacturing businesses are characterised by long-term production cycles. Another significant characteristic of many of these businesses is the extent of their dependence on governmental budgets.
