The NATO procurement agency has awarded EADS DCS a contract to supply a Blue Forces Tracking System (BFTS), a secure system for locating Allied forces in Kosovo and the Balkans. EADS will install a central server at the KFOR headquarters in Pristina. The vehicles themselves will be equipped with terminals which will enable them to receive and display the position of other vehicles in their vicinity in addition to other tactical information. Communication between the vehicles and the KFOR command post takes place via NATO’s secure radio communications network in operation since 2000.
