TETRA on track for Chinese transportation

The launch of the Guangzhou Metro Line 4 in Guangdong province means better services to millions of Guangzhou citizens. For their professional mobile radio system, they use EADS TETRA.

Ningqi Railway is one of China’s most important rail infrastructure projects. It relies on EADS TETRA for its radio communications.

Nanjing Metro Corporation in Jiangsu province provides transport services to the city of Nanjing’s six million inhabitants. The EADS TETRA system meets their requirements for good voice service and possibility of introducing a variety of data applications.

The Shenzhen Metro Co., Ltd. in China uses the EADS TETRA system for secure communications. The Shenzhen Metro train network serves four million commuters a year.

German Public transport authorities

Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, BVG in Berlin is Germany's leading municipal public transport company and controls nine underground lines over 151 km with 170 stations, 163 bus routes over 1,934 km with 2,763 stops and 28 tram lines over 347 km with 375 stops. The BVG network serves more than 797 million passengers annually. The urban traffic authority uses digital EADS PMR systems for their bus and metro networks, also supporting Traffic Light Prioritisation and Passenger Information applications.

Kölner Verkehrsbetriebe KVB in Cologne run 57 lines, over 741 km with 874 stops serving more than 233 million passengers a year. This bus and tram network is covered by an EADS radio network.

HEAG mobilo in Darmstadt runs 9 tram lines and 25 bus lines and transports over 30 million passengers each year in the Rhine-Main-Region. Upon acquisition of a new bus line licence serving the Odenwald south of Darmstadt, HEAG equipped the buses of this line with EADS PMR radio. This network will be expanded to the whole HEAG network and finally serve the whole Rhine-Main region.

EADS PMR is rolling out a digital trunked radio system to cover 850 km road for the Federal Highways of Rhineland-Palatinate to manage their fleet of service and maintenance vechicles

EADS is equipping the “Hochbahn” of Regiofunk Hamburg with a PMR-system for about 1000 subscribers in Hamburg’s traffic area with a legths of 1.360 km. The radio system interfaces the dispatch centers to on-board computer systems and passenger information displays. Also, traffic light prioritisation is supported. The radio infrastructure is deployed in three simulcast cells and covers users outiside the Hochbahn traffic network as well as the harbour authority. The system will be operational early 2006.

Metro, trams and buses in Lille

Transpole in Lille runs their multimodal transport network with EADS PMR. All vehicles, Transpole security and track maintenance is equipped with radio. For safety reasons, a localization application is used in the metro tunnels. Passengers take benefit from the count down display service.

Trams and buses in Helsinki

Hundreds of buses and trams in Helsinki rely on EADS TETRA networks for their communication needs. The services are provided by Helsinki Energy, acting as operator company.

Underground in Bilbao

The Metro line system built in the centre of Bilbao includes EADS TETRA base stations and a TETRA switch. Users include the metro company's operational and security personnel.

An operator company is providing EADS TETRA services to the public transport company Oslo Sporveier. Offering a reliable service and cost control, the services also provide a wide variety of features, from group communication to direct calls and location-based services
