TBM 850 first appearance at the Paris Air Show

The Very Fast Turboprop TBM 850 will be one of the General Aviation stars presented at world’s premier aerospace event.

Paris, 18 June 2007

EADS Socata exhibits for the first time its latest model to the public at the 47th International Paris Air Show, world’s premier aerospace event, with registered visitors from 150 countries.

The Very Fast Turboprop TBM 850 offers pilots and operators what they expected: a maximum cruising speed of 320 KTAS at flight level 260 combining the cruising speed and trip times typical of a light jet with the economic direct operating costs, range and useful load of an already well proven world-class single-engine turboprop. The TBM 850 price is $2,626,910 featuring the last generation Garmin GMX 200 Multi-function dispIay (MFD) as standard equipment.

Jean-Michel Léonard, EADS Socata’s newly appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, who was formerly ATR’s Chairman of the Board, commented “For my first Paris Air Show as EADS Socata’s CEO, I’m glad to come along world’s fastest single turboprop aircraft. And I will look forward to lead the TBM 850, ATR’s “little brother” on the path of continued success”.

‘Only 18 months after the official launch of the TBM 850, we are pleased to report 100 orders for our aircraft. Last year, we delivered 42 aircrafts and we are sold out for this year with a production that was increased to 50 aircrafts. We have broken all records for the TBM program”, said Nicolas Chabbert, Vice President Sales & Marketing of EADS Socata. “The range, useful load and speed of the TBM 850, its lower environmental signature plus the ease of insurability and pilot transition will continue to make it a preferred option for many buyers.”

The TBM 850 is available via EADS Socata’s existing direct sales and distribution network, and is supported by its extensive worldwide network of service centers. The TBM 850 is exhibited alongside a TBM 700 from the French Army Aviation, which operates today a fleet of 12 TBM 700, all maintained by EADS Socata through a Full Operational Support contract.

EADS Socata is one of the world’s leading general aviation manufacturers, with more than 17,000 aircrafts built since its creation as Morane-Saulnier in 1911. EADS Socata is expanding its customer service activities, to support its growing fleet of TBM and offer its light aviation expertise for aircraft below 5.7 tons through avionics modernization, maintenance, repair and overall package offers. Headquartered in Tarbes, France, with North American operations in Pembroke Pines, Florida, EADS Socata is a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS - a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In 2006, EADS generated revenues of € 39.4 billion and employs a workforce of about 116,000.
