EVA Air Orders Additional A330

Toulouse, 24  November  2004

EVA Air of Taiwan has signed a firm contract for an additional A330-200, adding to its existing commitment for ten A330-200s - eight leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and two purchased directly from Airbus. The first A330-200 was delivered in June 2003, with the sixth aircraft being delivered today.

EVA Air’s 252-seat A330-200s feature a two-class layout comprising 24 business class seats and 228 seats in economy class. The aircraft offer increased cabin comfort, cargo capacity and lower operating costs than the older generation aircraft that are being replaced on regional and medium-to-long range routes.

"Offering the highest levels of in-flight comfort, the Airbus A330-200 has enabled EVA Air to continue building our reputation of providing the very best world-class service for our passengers," said K.W. Chang, Chief Executive Vice-President of EVA Air "In addition, we have combined lower operating costs with highly efficient cargo capabilities that have enhanced the profitability of our freight operations."

“EVA AIR is an airline that has always set very high standards to maintain its competitive position and we are delighted that that the A330-200 has so successfully proven its value to the airline.” said Noël Forgeard, Airbus Chief Executive Officer. "We naturally welcome the latest A330-200 order, which again confirms the leadership of the type in this category.”

With a range of up to 6,650 nm/12,300 km, the A330-200 combines some of the lowest operating costs of any aircraft ever designed with maximum flexibility over medium to long-haul routes.

Offering the highest degree of operational flexibility and economy combined with unmatched passenger comfort, Airbus’ A330/A340 Family of aircraft has established market leadership in the 240-380 seat category with 850 orders from 64 customers to date. This includes 235 orders from 18 customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

All Airbus aircraft feature the latest technology at no extra charge – such as advanced fuel-saving aerodynamics, including wing tip fences, widespread weight-saving carbon fibre composites, and pilot and maintenance-friendly fly-by-wire controls and centralised maintenance.
