EADS and Cincinnati Machine have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the Le Bourget Air Show for production equipment & systems sourcing. This agreement is part of the global sourcing strategy that has been launched across EADS.
The agreement paves the way for enhanced performances in the relationship between Cincinnati Machine as a supplier and EADS as a customer, in order to better meet business requirements. The resulting improvements form a platform for moving towards a “Competitive Partnership” between EADS and Cincinnati Machine in the production equipment & systems supply area, where products include automatic composite tapelayers and fibre placement machines.
The EADS sourcing strategy comprises major aspects such as supplier evaluation and proactive development of performance and business along procurement policy targets and principles. It aims to build a long-term relationship with suppliers that are willing to develop sustained, excellent performances with the aim of meeting the market needs in an improved manner. Tuned to particular internal customer requirements, the agreement applies to every Business Unit of EADS. It facilitates the implementation of a deepened relationship between EADS and its best suppliers, called the “Competitive Partnership”.
“Our global sourcing strategy aims to encourage long-term cooperation between EADS Business Units and their best-in-class suppliers and to make progress towards a new type of relationship called the "Competitive Partnership". This ensures progressively closer relationships are balanced with strong cross-references to prevailing market conditions. The levels of performance achieved by Cincinnati Machine and their willingness to continue to develop them position this supplier as one of the very best. We are committed to working out this excellence-and-reward type of approach with a limited number of strategic suppliers to enable our Business Units, end-customers and shareholders to benefit from top-quality performances,” said Hans-Erich Mundt, Senior Vice President Corporate Sourcing at EADS.
“Cincinnati Machine has a long and successful history of supplying manufacturing solutions across many segments of EADS”, said Chip Storie, Vice President Aerospace Sales, Cincinnati Machine. “We welcome this opportunity to build on that success and are committed to contributing to the value that EADS delivers to its global customers.”
