Description du poste

Airbus UK has a number of positions open for Lead Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineers, to be based primarily at our Filton site. The role will involve the analysis of composite and metallic aircraft structures using standard fatigue, crack growth and residual strength calculations to assess and develop design solutions using standard hand and computer methods, within various project teams.

Tâches

As the successful candidate, you will be expected to liaise with the Methods and Data group in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments.

You will therefore be responsible for the following:

- Ensuring structural integrity for F&DT aspects of the sub-assembly of a product
- Carrying out F&DT analysis calculations to assess design solutions for a whole range of tasks, potentially from concept and structural development to certification
- Supporting the structural design process to ensure required quality is achieved for F&DT within direct area of responsibility
- Reporting and escalating critical technical issues
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency
- Providing technical leadership
- Project managing task, as and, when required
- Technical management of suppliers
- Acting as signatory for stress and F&DT
- Managing interfaces with adjacent work packages or sub-assemblies.

Vos compétences

As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

- Experience working as a F&DT Engineer, preferably within the aircraft industry, involved in fatigue analysis of metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods
- A good understanding of the fundamental method of analysis for fatigue and crack growth; you should possess the ability to develop these methods and assess structural analysis problems
- Experience of PC and mainframe computer systems; you should have a good knowledge of the application of FE analysis
- A good understanding of aircraft production methods and processes would be beneficial
- Ability to work well within a multifunctional team/transnational team environment
- As a team player you should have a high regard for internal and external customers, whilst maintaining aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle is expected
- Good leadership skills, would be an advantage
- English, to negotiation level.
