ATR announces a new step forward with Air Deccan

ATR has finalized today a GMA agreement with the first Indian low-cost airline, Air Deccan for spare parts and maintenance services for the new fleet of thirty ATR 72-500 brand new aircraft.
This 5-year contract is a complete MRO service agreement, which is worth a total amount of over 90m$.

Through this agreement, ATR will cover a wide spectrum of maintenance requirements for Air Deccan’s new fleet, including complete spares inventories on site, a pool service for standard exchange of parts, repair of equipment and line replaceable units. Furthermore, ATR will handle the repair and overhaul of the engines, propellers and landing gears.

Air Deccan’s Managing director Capt Gopinath stated: “We have an excellent partnership with ATR since we started operations two years ago and this GMA contract is broadening even more our co-operation. “

Jean-Pierre Cousserans, ATR Senior Vice President Customer Services declared: “ATR is already covering a wide range of maintenance and spares services for the support of the ATR 42-320 and ATR 42-500 operated by Air Deccan. We have acquired a very good understanding of Air Deccan operations and expectations. With this new agreement, highly customised, we will further contribute to the development of the airline and the reduction of their maintenance costs.”

The low-cost carrier currently operates 12 ATR 42s on its domestic network with links to cities such as Hubli, Belgaum, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Chennai, Derhadun, Jaipur, Goa, Vijayawada, Mangalore and Amritsar…from Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi.
