EADS ANNOUNCES NOMINATION OF GENERAL COUNSEL PIERRE CARDIN TO JOIN EADS NORTH AMERICAWashington D.C., 25 April 2003 EADS, the world’s second-largest defense and aerospace company, announced on Friday the selection of Mr. Pierre Cardin, as General Counsel of their North American operations. Mr. Cardin will take up his responsibilities at EADS North America in June. As General Counsel, Mr. Cardin’s responsibilities will include the oversight of legal affairs for the group’s businesses in the United States. He will support the expansion of these businesses both organically and through acquisitions, as well as coordinate legal matters with EADS corporate headquarters. His assignment originates at EADS in Paris, and Mr. Cardin will be based in Washington, D.C. Commenting on the appointment of Mr. Cardin, Ralph Crosby, Chairman and CEO of EADS North America, said, “I am pleased to welcome Pierre to our Washington team. He will provide experience and insight as we progress in building our role as an innovative leader in the U.S. aerospace and defense market.” Prior to his role with EADS North America, Mr. Cardin was Head of the Contracts, Litigations and Intellectual Property department at EADS in Paris. Mr. Cardin is Canadian and started his legal career in general practice, in Montreal, in 1983. Since 1986, he has been practicing law in France, when he moved to Paris to pursue studies and work for the firm of Lafarge Flécheux, in association with the Montreal firm, Lafleur Brown de GrandPré. In 1990, Mr. Cardin joined what was then the aerospace Matra Group. He served as the General Counsel for present-day Astrium until 2000. Mr. Cardin graduated with his Canadian law degree from the University of Sherbrooke, Canada, in 1982; he graduated from the University of Paris in 1986. Mr. Cardin has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1983.
