ATR number one in turboprops

17 Aircraft Sold in 4 Months

Toulouse, 15 May 2001

ATR is pleased to congratulate SAFAIR and JET AIRWAYS for their agreement to lease 3 new AIR 72-500s. SAFAIR's order from ATR and its subsequent agreement to lease the aircraft to JET AIRWAYS represents a vote of confidence for the ATR. It confirms the success of the ATR operations in India with JET AIRWAYS which has been operating five ATR 72-500s for the last two years.

The first part of 2001 has been particularly successful with 17 new aircraft sold, including 3 ATR 72-500s to VIETNAM AIRLINES, 10 ATR 72-500s to KHALIFA AIRWAYS, 1 ATR 42 MIP (AIR Surveyor) to CAPITANERIA DI PORTO, and recently 3 ATR 72-500s to SAFAIR in South Africa.

"In an environment largely dominated by regional jets, I'm particularly proud of the fighting spirit and of the results of our ATR commercial team within the 1ast few months, which, has demonstrated the sustained presence of the turboprop market" said Alain Brodin, Senior Vice President Sales & Commercial. "Over the last twelve months the ATR commercial team has sold 40 new aircraft and this remarkable achievement will allow us to concentrate on medium term sales targets and new emerging markets where a significant potential for turboprop aircraft exists."

Antoine Bouvier, Chief Executive Officer: "Thanks to our sales success, nearly all of year 2001 delivery slots have been secured as well a very large part of those related to year 2002. This situation reinforces the stability of our programme into the future. The ATR -500 family is the number one in turboprops and the ATR programme is well positioned for the long term".

With the order from SAFAIR, ATR has placed 40 new aircraft within the last 12 months and sold 654 aircraft (366 ATR 42s and 288 ATR 72s) since the beginning of the programme.

To date, ATR has delivered 620 aircraft (361 AIR 42s and 259 AIR 72s).
