Finncomm Airlines takes delivery of its first
ATR 42-500 aircraft

Toulouse, 30  November  2005

Finnish Commuter Airlines (Finncomm Airlines) took delivery of its first new ATR 42-500 aircraft, today, in Toulouse. Delivered with a 48-seat configuration, this aircraft is part of the contract for eight ATR 42-500s unveiled in June at the Paris Air Show 2005.

The delivery ceremony took place in Toulouse with Juhani Pakari, Managing Director of Finncomm Airlines and Filippo Bagnato, Chief Executive Officer of ATR.

Equipped with the new “Elegance” cabin, the ATR 42-500 is delivered with the newest technological innovations in the field of communications and navigation aid tools: Aircraft Communication Addressing & Reporting System (ACARS) and Multi-Purpose Computer (MPC). This aircraft also includes a double Flight Management System (FMS) that complies with the European most stringent requirement in terms of Area Navigation (R-NAV).

The ATR 42-500 aircraft will feed the Finnair Helsinki hub and will be also operated on the Finncomm Airlines regional network.

With this new aircraft, the airline will benefit from a fuel-efficient technology, maintaining its fleet up to date with the latest standards of comfort for its customers and capability to grow with the market.

Since the beginning of the programme, ATR delivered 687 aircraft (382 ATR 42s and 305 ATR 72s).

About Finncomm Airlines

Founded in 1993, Finncomm Airlines is headquartered in Seinajoki, western Finland, with operational base at Helsinki, and is a partner company of Finnish national air carrier Finnair. The domestic flight schedules have been so planned as to provide suitable connections to Finnair’s further international flights. The two carriers have been co-operating since 1998, when Finncomm Airlines started to feed Finnair domestic operations thanks to the operational support of Golden Air’s Saab 340 aircraft.

Currently Fincomm Airlines operates two Embraer ERJ-145 jet aircraft under codeshare with Finnair from Helsinki to Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Oslo.

With this first ATR 42-500, Finncomm Airlines starts the complete replacement of Golden Air operations that were up to now already produced by Finncomm Airlines: staff, flight planning, and operation control.
