Robin Southwell appointed Chairman of Defence & Security Systems UK Ltd.

  • Appointment is in addition to his role as CEO of EADS UK
  • Southwell to take on his new responsibility with immediate effect

London, 13  September  2005

Defence & Security Systems (DS), the defence pillar within EADS, has appointed Robin Southwell (45) Chairman of DS UK. This appointment is in addition to his current role as CEO of EADS UK.

Prior to becoming CEO of EADS UK, Robin Southwell (45) was CEO of AirTanker Ltd, a consortia of EADS, Cobham, Rolls Royce, Thales and VT Group, which in February became preferred bidder for the MoD’s FSTA (Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft) PFI programme. Robin previously also held the positions of Chief Executive Officer at WS Atkins and Group Managing Director of Customer Solutions and Support at BAE Systems. Stefan Zoller, CEO of Defence & Security Systems Division commented on the appointment, “Robin is the perfect addition to the team, bringing with him invaluable experience of the wider UK defence industry. I look forward to continuing and enhancing our success in the UK market, and I will fully support Robin in his new role.
