During the opening of the Eurosatory exhibition, French Ministry of Defense Mrs Michèle Alliot-Marie announced the launching of a program for a versatile, long-range EUROMALE UAV system.
The project will be conducted under the prime leadership of EADS, along with THALES and Dassault Aviation, the major three European companies specializing in aeronautical defense systems.
Dassault Aviation will be responsible for developing the flight segment and its system architecture, for subsequent production by joint teams from Dassault Aviation, EADS and THALES.
THALES will develop the ground segment and the associated systems in cooperation with EADS. THALES and EADS will also join forces to reinforce their cooperation in this area.
In-depth contacts are also underway with other European contractors, including SAAB (Sweden).
The industrial organization induced by the project will help develop a powerful, industrial capacity for Europe in the sensitive and strategic sphere of military reconnaissance and intelligence aeronautics.
