Hand-over of second converted A310-300 freighter to Royal Jordanian Airlines at Dubai Air Show

Dresden/Dubai, 10  December  2003

Today, EADS EFW (Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH) handed over the second Airbus A310-300 (MSN 490) in freighter configuration to Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJA). The ceremony took place at Dubai Air Show.

During the ceremony, Horst Emker, President & CEO of EADS EFW, expressed his high appreciation to welcome His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Ibn Al-Hussein, and Samer Majali, President & CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines who was accompanied by high-ranking airline representatives. Royal Jordanian Airlines is one of the pioneering airlines to use A310 freighter aircraft

The converted A310-300 freighter aircraft was delivered to Royal Jordanian Airlines one month ahead of schedule. The A310-300 freighter is a long haul aircraft flying more than 7 hours non-stop, with a holding capacity of up to 40 tons. The two converted A310-300 freighter aircraft replace the two B707 freighter formerly operated by RJA. The addition of the A310-300 freighter enable RJA to add more cargo destinations to its route map such as New York, London, Colombo, Hongkong, in addition to existing regular cargo flight to Maastricht, Dubai, Istanbul, and New Delhi.

As of today, EADS has delivered 102 converted freighter aircraft to 18 customers worldwide.

EFW, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, is the core centre for Airbus passenger to freighter conversion within EADS. EFW is also the centre of competence for the production of fibre-reinforced sandwich components for the entire family of Airbus, including production and conversion freighter.
