Operations & Customer Services

In March 2002, ATR launched its new customer support web site. To date, more than 50% of ATR operators worldwide log on to the site regularly. This site will facilitate the start up of AEROCHAIN, an e-business site launched together with EMBRAER. ATR operators will be able to access this site by the end of 2003.

In April 2002 the ATR Training Centre received the JAR 147 approval from the French GSAC (Groupement de la Sécurité de l'Aviation Civile). With this certification, the ATR Training Centre is entitled to deliver a type qualification (JAR 66 licences) to aerospace mechanics for the ATR 42 and the ATR 72 types within JAR 145 approved maintenance organisations.

At the end of December ATR obtained the DOA (Design Organisation Agreement) which is a confirmation from the authorities (JAA and DGAC) of ATR's capability in terms of engineering (see ATR press release to be issued on January 23rd)

2. Financial Results

ATR will achieve in 2002 results that are well beyond its targets, thus proving the efficiency of the integrated structure, implemented in June 2001. ATR's turnover in 2002 will remain stable in comparison with 2001.

3. 2003 perspectives

ATR acknowledges that 2003 should also be a difficult year for the air transport market. However ATR has set the objective to sell around 20 new aircraft and has planned to deliver an equivalent number in 2003.

On the second hand market ATR hopes to achieve the same level of activity as in 2002.

In February 2003 ATR will organize its eigth operators symposium which will gather over 400 delegates from all ATR operators and vendors.

Furthermore ATR will continue to improve its final assembly line cycles by mid-March going from 3 to 2 months.

Also in March 2003 ATR expects to obtain the ISO 9001 quality standard.

4. ATR prepares for the long term

The regional aviation has been transforming rapidly over the last 20 years and it should also be very different from today in a decade.

Recognizing this and benefiting from its unique experience and customer base, ATR is launching a vast study called RAMPS (Regional Aviation Market Prospective Study) on the future of regional air transport. The aim is to identify the trends, the shape and the needs of the regional airlines in the 5-10 years to come.

Regional and major airlines, vendors and aviation authorities will be associated to this work, in order to provide a wider perspective.

This study should enable ATR to look at several scenarios for the years to come. A first series of results will be presented at the next Paris Air Show in June 2003.
