EADS has strengthened the role of human resource management in the company with the nomination of Jussi Itävuori, the Head of EADS Human Resources, as Member of the Executive Committee. EADS anounced on Friday, that the EADS Board approved the proposal by the CEOs Philippe Camus and Rainer Hertrich to promote the current Group Vice President to Executive Vice President. The nomination will become effective as of 1 January 2003.
Itävuori, a 47-year-old Finn, joined Europe’s largest aerospace and defence group in September 2001. He has been in charge of EADS human resources and is responsible for the national human resource management in Germany, France and Spain as well as the Executive Management Development and the Corporate Business Academy.
“The promotion of Mr Itävuori confirms that Human Resource development is a top priority for EADS. Consequently, this highlights the strategic importance and responsibility of the human resource functions both on EADS as well as on the business unit level in contributing to our long term business success.”
Prior to his tenure at EADS, Itävuori was the head of Human Resources and Communications at elevator manufacturer KONE. Itävuori studied business administration after military service as a pilot in the Finnish Air Force. He is married and has two children.
