Qatar Airways Selects EADS Sogerma Services Seats for its A330 AircraftMérignac, 23 October 2001 On October 5, 2001, QATAR AIRWAYS and EADS SOGERMA SERVICES announced the selection, by QATAR AIRWAYS, of the latest EADS SOGERMA SERVICES first class and business class seats for its wide body fleet. QATAR AIRWAYS has selected EADS SOGERMA SERVICES "Business Plus" seats and first class seats "CLASS 180" for its fleet of A330 aircraft on order, the delivery of which will begin in April 2002. The A330 aircraft associated with the "BUSINESS PLUS and CLASS 180" will contribute to the leadership of QATAR AIRWAYS in providing passengers with the highest standards of services and comfort. QATAR AIRWAYS is the launching customer of the brand new and very innovative EADS SOGERMA SERVICES "BUSINESS PLUS" seat which will bring new standards of comfort and privacy for business class passengers. BUSINESS PLUS: the state-of-the-art Business-Class seat Representing a clear breakthrough from previous generations of Business Class seats and those currently available on the market. The Business Plus seat, a fully electrically operated seat, provides a sliding movement up and down from 90° to 160° by a simple press on a keypad, and providing the optimum level of comfort for a 55-inch seat pitch. The unit is designed for maximum convenience and ergonomics, with lumbar support and individual in-flight entertainment. Thanks to the fixed shell concept, the passenger receives total privacy from the neighbouring passengers without disturbing their own comfort. Class 180: the Executive First-Class SeatThe First-Class passenger of the 21st century demands the greatest level of convenience and comfort when travelling. In addition, QATAR AIRWAYS and EADS SOGERMA SERVICES have entered into long-term component support contract for QATAR AIRWAYS Airbus fleet. Based on their successful long lasting business relationship, QATAR AIRWAYS and EADS SOGERMA SERVICES have decided to move further in their co-operation process by launching a "feasibility study" which will assess the potential set up of an Aircraft Maintenance Company in DOHA. This potential venture will be first dedicated to QATAR AIRWAYS AIRBUS fleet technical operation. The DOHA based maintenance company will benefit from EADS SOGERMA SERVICES experience in the field of maintenance/repair/modification of AIRBUS aircrafts and components. QATAR AIRWAYS has also selected EADS SOGERMA SERVICES for the Total Component Support of its fleet of 7 A300-600R as well as its A310-300 aircraft. This five years contract provides QATAR AIRWAYS with Pool, Repair and Overhaul maintenance supports under a "fly-by-the-hour" concept for all Airbus aircraft components.
