Astrium Services wins Australian Navy satellite communications terminals contract

Portsmouth, 22  December  2008

Astrium, Europe's largest space company, has won an order to supply five 'Maritime ASTIS' wideband satellite communications terminals to the Royal Australian Navy. The contract allows additional options to be exercised over the next nine months.

  • Astrium to provide five state-of-the-art wideband satellite communications terminals to Royal Australian Navy (RAN)
  • The ASTIS terminal is a dual band X/Ka variant of Astrium’s SCOT system
  • The new dual band terminals are destined for three new RAN air warfare destroyers (AWD) and two new amphibious ships
