Air Hong Kong Orders 2 Additional A300-600F Freighter Aircraft

Toulouse, 17  December  2004

Air Hong Kong (AHK) has signed a firm contract for 2 additional Airbus A300-600F Freighter aircraft with options for a further 2 of the aircraft type, adding to an existing order for six A300-600Fs signed in March 2003. Deliveries of the first purchased aircraft commenced in September 2004. The two additional A300-600F Freighter aircraft will be delivered in May and June 2006

The all-cargo carrier, in which Cathay Pacific and DHL Worldwide Express hold a 60 per cent and 40 per cent stake respectively, was the launch customer for the A300-600F "General Freighter" variant, which differs from A300F4-600R aircraft in that it has a loading system and side door capable of handling large items of general freight in addition to small packages.

AHK Chief Operating Officer David Saechiu said: “Our aggressive fleet expansion to eight aircraft within two years will provide the necessary capacity we need to develop our regional express cargo network, strengthen Hong Kong’s position as the region’s leading air cargo hub and enhance the quality of service that we already provide to DHL. We are well positioned to continue growing.”

Noël Forgeard, Airbus Chief Executive Officer said: “We are extremely pleased that the first A300-600F operator has decided to add more of these aircraft to its fleet. When a customer as influential as Air Hong Kong in the Asian freighter market places a repeat order, it points to the fact that our aircraft provide what airlines want. Clearly the new A300-600F model has successfully proven its value.”

A leading aircraft manufacturer with the most modern and comprehensive product line on the market, Airbus is a global company with design and manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, the UK, and Spain as well as subsidiaries in the U.S., China and Japan.
