EADS Telecom enters North American Market With $17 Million Contract from U.S. Army

EADS TELECOM, a leader in secure digital networks, has announced its entrance into the North American market with the signing of a contract to supply handheld terminals and radio modems to the United States Army's Simulation Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM).

The $17 million contract was awarded to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), an EADS TELECOM partner. EADS TELECOM will supply equipment for use during training exercises at the U.S. Army Combat Training Center. The equipment will be installed on a wide range of vehicles including trucks, tanks, armored personnel carriers and helicopters.

The system includes a large voice and data capable infrastructure based on the TETRAPOL digital technology. The system will use digital wireless communication technology to monitor the movements and status of vehicles and soldiers involved in the training manoeuvres.

With this contract EADS TELECOM builds on its worldwide success, and expands its North American presence, to bring its defence and security networks solutions into the US market. TETRAPOL is now adopted in 28 countries with 57 networks worldwide, including nationwide networks among which Mexico, Spain and France.

TETRAPOL has been specifically designed and evolved for public safety and military applications.

System infrastructure design, development, fielding, and life cycle support will be performed by Raytheon, the service partner for the US Army Combat Training Center.
