World Meet 2007 in Stupino, Russia

There has been a tight competition going on between Italy and Germany for the bronze medal position. Italy had won the first two rounds and was up by four points over Germany. However, Germany's EADS team came back with vengeance in Round 3 and beat Italy's Ex3mo soundly with a new German 8-way record jump of 21 points. The previous German 8-way record of 18 points was already 11 years old.

EADS was now up by one point after three rounds and defended the bronze medal position for two more rounds. The next two jumps reversed the situation between Germany and Italy once again. Ex3mo came back with new energy and turned the 1-point deficit into a 1-point lead in Round 6. Germany lost even more ground in Round 7, and Italy had a 3-point lead going into the last three rounds of the 8-way competition. The 13 points in Round 8 didn't help much at all in the pursuit of the Italian team, which won four more points over Germany with a 17-pointer in this round. EADS Germany tried harder one more time and got to 16 points in Round 9. It's not enough, Italy's Ex3mo did a little bit better and added another point to the difference with a 17-pointer. Germany and Italy settled their conflict with 16-pointers each in Round 10 and the 8-way bronze medals for Italy.

What a fight over 10 rounds with the better end for the Italians but a new German 8-way record for the EADS team!
