The Military Transport Aircraft Division (MTA) designs, manufactures and sells modern transport aircraft. It is responsible for the A400M programme, as well as Military Derivatives based on Airbus A330 and A310 platforms, which combine the efficiencies of Airbus aircraft with in-house innovations such as the state-of-the-art flight refuelling boom. MTA has the leading market share for Medium and Light transports, offering advanced mission systems for purposes such as maritime patrol. It also designs and manufactures advanced aerostructures and employs approximately 5,000 people. Francisco Fernández Sáinz is Head of the Military Transport Aircraft Division.

Located near the Madrid Barajas Airport, the site counts with the most advanced facilities, in its more than 27,000 m2. The experience gathered in the past 40 years, has turned it into a European Centre of Excellence in Composites for space applications. Here, structural, thermal and power distribution subsystems are developed, produced, integrated and qualified, for satellites, launchers & the International Space Station. Onboard reflectors and active phased array antennas, and deployment and separation mechanisms, are also produced in this site, home of the leading Spanish Space Company.
