FROM PRODUCT MANUFACTURER TO SERVICE PROVIDER?
Opportunities and Risks in the Aerospace and Defence Industry

Over the past few years, service activities have experienced a fast development in today's global economy. Usually enjoying above-average margins and promising growth prospects, these activities now hold a privileged position in almost every company's strategic plans.

In the aerospace and defence Industry, the trend towards an increasing role of services is now widely accepted. There is, however, no clear consensus on how to make the most out of this new business opportunity. While some companies have chosen to shift their core activities to the supply of integrated solutions, others have favoured a more pragmatic approach by developing their customer services. In addition to that, new and original business concepts based exclusively on services have been appearing in the defence industry. The question of how far to develop and integrate service activities is now being asked throughout the whole industry.

By involving prestigious speakers from different areas of the aerospace and defence, as well as other industries, the Young Managers Conference 2006 aims to provide a platform for the discussion of this hotly debated topic. The potential for the development of service-related activities, as well as the associated business models, will be discussed. Indeed, these new business opportunities have modified the competitive environment in the aerospace industry and have called for specific market and corporate strategies.

As a participant of the Young Managers Conference 2006 you will have the chance to contribute to the discussion by sharing your ideas during the panel discussion.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Munich.
