Weapon System Simulation in Flight (WaSiF)

WaSiF is a future-oriented and proven "embedded training" technology that allows both present and future fighter aircraft crews to train engaging virtual opponents that are beyond visual range (BVR).

The WaSiF technology has been successfully demonstrated and it is proved that it in no way impairs flight safety.

During the flight, WaSiF generates a virtual aerial combat scenario in real time for the combat aircrew. This includes displaying any type and number of virtual opponents and their tactical behaviour on the unmodified cockpit instruments (head-up, head-down and helmet-mounted displays, Hands on Throttle and Stick HOTAS, audio).

WaSiF is currently an independent and complete system with high potential for expansion, e.g. it can be networked so that several combat aircraft can train within the same virtual scenario. The networked scenario can also be expanded to include integrated air defence.

Among other things, WaSiF meets the requirements of the Advanced European Jet Pilot Training (AEJPT). As WaSiF is also capable of simulating a weapon system normally not available in a training aircraft, it can be used in training aircraft for networked operations. In this case, the entire spectrum of aerial combat training is available, from interception of BVR opponents to dogfights using automatic cannon.
