The weapon system concept is based on a balanced interaction of characteristics such as high agility resulting from the aerodynamic design and the performance of the engines, armament and sensors and the low signature. Eurofighter impresses with its extreme manoeuvrability. It is designed as a combat aircraft first and foremost and, for this purpose, Eurofighter is armed with a mix of short- and medium-range powerful air-to-air guided missiles. For extended air-to-ground missions Eurofighter is capable of carrying a heavy weapons load and has functionally adapted weapon stations. The integration of standoff and all-weather precision weapons enables optimized air-to-ground missions to be flown. Fast role change and computer-based role optimization is ensured by the highly networked computer systems with the appropriate intelligent software.
