Production Capabilities

Augsburg enjoys a leading position in the world's markets thanks to its high degree of automation in conjunction with state-of-the-art production techniques, which enable shorter lead times together with greater precision and at the same time rising production rates.

The Augsburg site is also proving itself to be a pacesetter in other areas of production engineering, for example capturing new shares of the market by using an innovative, patented method of producing large composite parts, the non-autoclave Vacuum Assisted Process VAP®. Here, the advantages lie in the considerably reduced production costs while maintaining a uniformly high component quality.

Furthermore, the focus is also on the optimized combination and efficient processing of different materials.

The strategic selection of suppliers and their qualification is a further competence offered by EADS Military Air Systems in Augsburg. The site is the selected partner for the Russian market, thus fulfilling the offset requirements on the Airbus side. In accordance with these criteria, a strategic partnership has been agreed with the Russian aerospace company Irkut for the production of Airbus components. Experienced programme managers from Augsburg's production, assembly and quality control provide support for the Russian company on-site at Irkut in order to guarantee the quality standards required for Airbus production. In addition, the site has entered into further partnerships with East European countries such as Romania and the Czech Republic.
