The role of the governmentEADS systems give governments the greatest control and flexibility when planning communications networks. For governments, the most effective authority communication solution will:
EADS provides proven solutions for nationwide radio communications networks. Three main operating modelsGovernment owned, company operatedThe government buys the network infrastructure and lets a separate company manage it. This has been a success for the Finnish VIRVE network. Government owned, government operatedThe government finances the complete network and also operates it. The key benefit of this model is security. However, an operator organisation also needs to be developed. This was the choice of the French Ministry of Interior for the ACROPOL network for the Police. Company owned, company operatedIf the government does not want to finance or manage the network, it can enter into a service contract. In this model, security issues may be a concern as the contractor is usually more concerned with business issues. SIRDEE in Spain and ASTRID in Belgium use this model. EADS supports all of these models and allows governments to adopt the best model for their own needs. |
