The TMR880i is an advanced, versatile TETRA mobile radio for secure and efficient voice and data communication. The vehicle-mounted TMR880i introduces a separate detachable control unit, placing control of the radio conveniently at the user’s fingertips. The new concept offers unlimited ways for installing the radio in cars, motorbikes and other vehicles.
Easy to use on the move
The new ergonomic CUR-3 control unit provides solid usability in vehicles, where the radio may need to be operated while on the move. The control unit has wide, clearly separated number keys and a large high-resolution colour screen with distinctive graphical menu elements. The most used controls are within easy reach on the left side of the display, while function keys are grouped on the far right. The ergonomically shaped 4-way navigation keys provide short cuts to frequently used operations in addition to scrolling the menu.
Accurate positioning
The highly sensitive integrated GPS receiver of the TMR880i for will help improve the speed and efficiency of an organisation’s operations. The ETSI Location Interface Protocol is supported, allowing position sending either automatically or at specified triggers such as time, distance or status message.
The radio can be programmed to send its position information during an emergency call, helping dispatchers get aid quickly to the incident scene. The user-friendly Waypoint guidance application shows the direction and distance to a set destination stored as a waypoint in the radio memory.
The power of applications
Thanks to its advanced PEI interface and the versatile I/O lines, the TMR880i radio can be integrated into - and controlled by - an external device or application. For such use, the TMR880i is available in a ‘data only’ configuration without the CUR-3 control unit, making it suitable for many purposes such as unmanned telemetry and remote control applications.
Supporting the Java MIDP 2.0™ platform, the new terminal allows organizations to implement customised applications such as mobile command, control and reporting, navigation or database queries, or a temporary application for a particular event.
Confidential communication
The TMR880i supports the EADS total solution for end-to-end encryption. The smart card-based solution enables the smooth introduction of end-to-end encryption when needed, making it easily adaptable to an organisation's operational needs. The TMR880i radio unit has an integrated slot for the smart card. An external smart card reader is available for further flexibility.
