THR880i Ex benefits

THR880i Ex is a robust, intrinsically safe TETRA handportable radio for safe communication in explosion-prone areas. These include places where inflammable substances are produced, processed, transported or stored, such as chemical and petrochemical industries, oil and natural gas production as well as rigs and harbours.

Two in one

The THR880i Ex provides the user with the highest ergonomy and ease of use for demanding fieldwork. The radio side with just the necessary controls is optimised for reliable voice communication. Voice feedback guides and confirms communications, allowing users to focus on their tasks. The phone side with sharp high-resolution colour display and full keypad gives easy access to phone book, menu, browser and text message editor in more than 20 languages.

Best protection

The THR880i Ex has IP55 class protection against splash water and dust, and its mechanical construction makes it resistant to physical exposure. Compliant with the
II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 certificate (ATEX Directive 94/9/CE), the THR880i Ex is intrinsically safe and suitable for use in gaseous environments.

Well positioned

Featuring an integrated GPS receiver, the THR880i Ex radio allows the radio users to send their position information e.g. in case of emergency. In addition, the users’ positions can be tracked over the TETRA network, making it easier to allocate staff resources and dispatch the nearest available unit to the scene of an incident.

Enhanced mobility and security

Using the JavaTM platform and the XHTML color browser on the THR880i Ex radio, organisations can introduce customised applications and make information available to users quickly, conveniently and reliably. To ensure that information is delivered only to those it is addressed to, the THR880i Ex radio supports smart card based end-to-end encryption, providing the highest level of security.
