Latest Release 5 supports multiple frequencies

EADS TETRA System Release 5 supports multiple frequency bands within the same network. This is a unique capability in the market.

In other TETRA systems, base stations and terminals all have to use the same frequency band within a network. In contrast, EADS TETRA systems with software Release 5 can include base stations that operate on different frequency bands.

An EADS TETRA network can provide service for organisations who need to use different frequencies.

More services for more users

A network operator can offer radio communication services to organisations and companies that

  • don’t have frequency licences in digital PMR bands
  • or have little interest in operating their own TETRA network.

For example, a public safety organisation could use a service inside one region, and commercial users, such as a large industrial site in the same region can join the network. These users can also communicate with each other if necessary. Communications would be more complicated if they used different radio networks.
