Information can be retrieved directly from central databases to the terminal display. EADS TETRA users can access databases of missing persons, stolen vehicles, or hazardous materials, for instance, directly from the browser on their handset.
Browsers enable organizations to handle the management and installation of applications centrally, so there is no need to update applications in field equipment when databases are added or removed. Moreover, the applications are not tied to underlying network technology, which means that the same data can be made available to authorized users with GSM-handsets, for example.
Security is of particular interest in shared networks. EADS’s solution can restrict access to authorized users only and data can be secured with strong 128-bit encryption.
