ESTHER

© EADS

ESTHER provides a means of linking heterogeneous M&S (Modelling & Simulation) and C4I systems based on following interconnection standards : HLA (High Level Architecture), the simulation standard recommended by the DMSO (Defence Modelling & Simulation Office) in the DoD (Department of Defence) and SICAT (Communication & Information System of French Army), the standard for the Army’s messaging system.

ESTHER comprises a collection of tools for running the three phases of an exercise :

  • Preparation ( order of battle editors, scenario editors, ....)
  • Control (situations, overlays, messaging, voice transmission, …),
  • Analysis ( statistics, playbacks, debriefing, … )

ESTHER comprises a "C4I – M&S Gateway". Its provides a means of stimulating the SIR using information taken from the simulation. ESTHER provides a Command Agent capability which makes it possible to reduce the number of operators needed to run the JANUS simulation.

ESTHER-Gate, a software component, is able to optimise communication traffic between sites.
ESTHER has been featured in numerous trials carried out as part of exercises organised by the French Army Training Command involving operational personnel (2003 and 2004 : Infantry School EAI, Armoured Cavalry School EAABC).
