Since September 1993, Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH have manufactured flat sandwich components of any desired strength in series production for the original furnishing of all Airbus types. Over 1 000 000 equipment components, which are manufactured in up to 30 000 different shapes and sizes, have left EFW since then and have been delivered just-in-time to the Airbus final assembly lines in Hamburg and Toulouse.
Such components include floor panels, cargo compartment linings, cabin components and VIP-equipment. Manufacturing is carried out on CNC facilities and machines with reproducible quality in all process phases. Various materials are processed, such as carbon-fiber reinforced (CFRP) and glass-fiber reinforced (GFRP) plastics, following the customers' demands. Modern networked planning and control systems guarantee the economic efficiency of the manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with top quality standards for the production of different components while maintaining a high degree of flexibility.
The completely new Airbus A380 double-decker jet sets new standards on the worldwide market for widebody aircraft and is considering the crowning glory of the Airbus family. EFW is involved in this Super Widebody airliner program with its two full passenger decks as the responsible risk-sharing supplier for the development, design and manufacture of the complete systems of cargo compartment linings and floor panels. This contribution for the entire A380 production program is a further proof of EFW´s competence in fitting out the interiors of the Airbus family.
EADS EFW also supplies all cockpit security doors to new Airbus aircraft and has retrofitted them to the existing Airbus fleet.
In addition, EADS EFW is an authorised manufacturer of single parts, structural sub-assemblies, kits for systems (formed sheet metal parts, milled parts, pre-assembled shells, floor structures, pipes, electric kits and others) used for conversion and special programs like A300-600ST.
Related capabilities are machining, forming of sheet metal and tubes, heat treatment for aluminium alloys, surface protection, painting of components, welding, assembly, completion and repair of sub-structures and system components. EADS EFW is manufacturer/supplier of special tooling (jigs) for Airbus and other programs and its own needs.
