Outstanding Paris Air Show for ATR

Toulouse, 18 June 2007

On the occasion of the ATR Press Conference, the French-Italian turboprop manufacturer announced that it has achieved orders for 53 new aircraft plus 15 options since the beginning of the year. For the third consecutive year, ATR has booked orders for 50 or more aircraft during the first half of the year, having announced over 50 orders at le Bourget in 2005 and at Farnborough in 2006 (and finishing with 163 total orders in 2005-2006).

Some of the previously undisclosed 2007 orders have been unveiled today in the ATR Press Conference. Certain others among the remaining undisclosed customers will be unveiled during the week of the Paris Air Show.

ATR is the “Green Player” of the regional market. On a 200 Nm, the fuel consumption per passenger of an ATR 72 is about 15% less than a European standard car and 50% less than a 70-seater jet. These figures appear even more important when related to gaseous emissions: 1 tonne of burned fuel represents 3 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Since 2005, ATR has posted orders for 206 new aircraft, thus confirming its leadership along the recovery of the turboprop market. Since the beginning of the programme, ATR has sold 890 aircraft (416 ATR 42s and 474 ATR 72s) and has delivered 727 (393 ATR 42s and 334 ATR 72s), thus posting a current backlog of 163 aircraft (+ 34% compared to 12 months ago). ATR counts 134 operators in 79 countries.
