EADS reinforces its international social rights policy and signs a framework agreement

Paris, 28 June 2005

EADS NV and the EADS European Works Council in association with the European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) and the International Metalworkers’ Federation (IMF) have signed today an international agreement providing a framework for the respect of social rights wherever the group operates, thus reaffirming their joint belief in corporate social responsibility.

This agreement emphasizes EADS’ will to grow its economic success worldwide in respect of common principles and standards laid down by the ILO conventions, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Global Compact in terms of human rights, equal opportunities, banning child labour, industrial dialogue, protection of the environment and other measures relating to good working conditions.

Jussi Itavuori, Executive Vice President Human Resources, declares ‘I am proud of this agreement. It is another milestone in the application of an innovating social policy within the group. It is also an outstanding demonstration of the quality of our dialogue with employees’ representatives’

Peter Zimmermann, Chairman of the European Works Council to add ‘This is another achievement of the European Works Council and it is the proof that a social Europe can exist. It is our will to pursue the implementation of this agreement to contribute in the development of a strong framework for social rights at a European and international scale.’
