ATR logs its 10 000 000th flightToulouse, 10 October 2000 The French Italian consortium ATR has reached a new milestone in its turboprop programme. Fifteen years after Air Littoral put the first ATR 42-300 into service on the Béziers-Paris-Béziers route on December 9th 1985, the ATR fleet logged its 10 000 000th flight last week. With more than 600 ATRs delivered to some 100 operators in 65 countries, the entire ATR fleet has logged a total of 1 179 855 flights with a cumulative average flight duration of 53 minutes, over the last 12 months. The ATR aircraft is proving every day its exceptional reliability on the market with an average dispatch reliability of 99.5% for the ATR new generation 500 series (ATR 42-500 and ATR 72-500) ; and of 99% for the ATR 42 (ATR 42-300 and ATR 42-320) and ATR 72 (ATR 72-200 and ATR 72-210). "With 10 000 000 flights logged, the ATR programme has proven its maturity on the market" said Ciro Vigorito, Senior Vice President Customer Support Operations, "the new generation 500 Series builds on this success. State-of-the-art technology combined with safety, reliability and great economics make the ATR 500 series the frontrunner among turboprops." Every 20 seconds somewhere in the world an ATR takes off.
