Action: EADS founder member of “Elles Bougent“

“Elles bougent“, created in 2005, is a French association of several industrial companies to addres the weak number of women in engineering and technical careers. Its aim is to promote scientific careers to young female students by providing information and giving advice.

The association organizes different actions and events thanks to a “patron system” : female technicians or engineers from industrial companies share with young woman their personal and profession experiences during different events like Happy Hours, and other organized meetings.

In this frame, EADS is also creating partnerships with the Financial Minister and GIFAS
( group of French Space and Aeronautical industries). The common goal is to promote industrial jobs to woman.

The association and EADS also organize plant visits, air show meetings such as Le Bourget or ILA .During these events the groups get the opportunity to see mock- ups and exchange with professionals about engineering careers.

Since 2004, EADS in conjuction with the Mission for Parity in Research (mission pour la parité dans la recherché) and the Minestry for Higher Education (Ministère de l’enseignement supérieur), award the ”Irène Joliot-Curie“ prize to promote women in research and technology in France.

From June this year, Jacques Massot, Senior Vice President EADS Headquarters, will be Chairman of the Elles bougent association and his involvement illustrates EADS’ dedication to diversity issues.

Moreover, the airshow Le Bourget is celebrating its 100 anniversary this year and for this occasion “Elles bougent” will organize a major event: 100 young women and 100 sponsors (100 jeunes filles, 100 marraines).
